Man Arrested In Md. Held In Vegas Diamonds Theft
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities say a 51-year-old man who was extradited from Maryland to Nevada has been indicted on multiple charges in the theft of $147,000 worth of diamonds and other items from a Las Vegas jewelry store.
Rodney Tracey Anistead was being held Thursday at the Clark County jail pending a Sept. 5 court appearance on felony theft and misdemeanor conspiracy charges.
Police say Anistead and other men were seen on surveillance video in March 2012 entering a Zales store where master display case keys were stolen.
That same day, Anistead was seen on video at another Zales store where employees later found items missing.
Police say that about a week later, police in Montgomery County, Md., found diamonds stolen from the Zales store in a black Range Rover registered to Anistead.
