Man Arrested In Md. Found Guilty Of NYC Salon Slaying
NEW YORK (AP) -- A Manhattan jury has convicted an ex-convict of killing his wife in the hair salon where she worked.
Michael Kenny was convicted of second-degree murder and aggravated criminal contempt for the fatal stabbing of his wife, Denise Kenny, on March 10, 2011. He is expected to be sentenced March 28.
Prosecutors said the 44-year-old Michael Kenny got a haircut and a shave from his 40-year-old wife at her salon, then stabbed her to death in a bathroom.
They said he then stole $800 from the salon's cash register and fled. He was arrested the next day near Millersville, Md. after leading police on a 5-mile chase.
Kenny had a record of attempted robbery and robbery convictions dating to 1990. He could face up to life in prison.
