Man Arrested After Police Pursuit In Stolen Ambulance On Route 50
CENTREVILLE, Md. (WJZ)— A man has been arrested after stealing an ambulance and leading police in a pursuit on Route 50.
Police say Juan M. Williams stole an ambulance from the Delaware area on Tuesday morning. Shortly after, a citizen called 911 to report an ambulance driving erratically.
Troopers from Easton and Centreville Barracks located the ambulance on westbound Route 50.
When police attempted to stop the ambulance, they say Williams accelerated.
The ambulance encountered heavy traffic while traveling on westbound Route 50, prior to Outlet Center Drive. It made a U-turn and began traveling eastbound on Route 50. The vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Route 213. Seconds later, the ambulance crossed through the median and began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, impeding oncoming traffic.
The pursuit ended when the ambulance turned left into the parking lot of a Park-and-Ride and struck an unattended vehicle.
Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack for processing.
No one was injured.
