Suspect In Armed Robbery, Carjacking In Laurel Causes Crash While Attempting To Flee, Police Say
LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- Laurel Police arrested a man suspected in an armed robbery and carjacking Friday.
Laurel police learned of an armed robbery in progress at the AT&T Store in the 14700 block of Baltimore Avenue around 10:32 a.m. When officers arrived, they learned the suspect was still inside.
When the suspect saw police, he ran out the back door.
Officers chased the man to the area of Cherry Lane and Baltimore Avenue, where the man allegedly carjacked someone at gunpoint and tried to flee but caused a car crash at the intersection.
Officers arrested the man and then took him to the hospital for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the accident, police said. He later was released. The driver and passenger in the second car were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released, police said.
The driver of the third vehicle was treated and released from the scene.
