Man Accused In 2006 Stabbing Death Of Correctional Officer Still Unable To Stand Trial
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A judge has ruled that an inmate accused of fatally stabbing a correctional officer in 2006 is still incompetent to stand trial.
An Anne Arundel Circuit Court judge ordered Tuesday that Lamarr Harris, 42, be treated at a state forensic psychiatric hospital, The Capital of Annapolis reports.
Harris and another inmate were charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Cpl. David McGuinn, 42, at the now-closed Maryland House of Correction in Jessup. Harris was first found incompetent to stand trial in June 2012.
The state has five years to try a person once he is ruled incompetent. The cases are reviewed annually.
The other inmate, Lee Edward Stephens, was convicted of first-degree murder in February 2012 and sentenced to life without parole.
