Man, 89, Dead After Car Crash In Rockville

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Police in Montgomery County say an 89-year-old man is dead after a car crash in Rockville.

Police say it happened around 2:20 p.m. Saturday at Maryland Avenue and Great Falls Road.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates a 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada was traveling eastbound on Maryland Avenue when it struck a Toyota that was traveling westbound on Maryland Avenue and attempting to turn left onto Potomac Valley Road. Both cars had green traffic signals.

Police say the front passenger in the Toyota, Irwin Percival Bellamy of Kensington, died after being taken to the hospital. His son, David Bellamy, who was driving the car, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Oldsmobile, 73-year-old Rachel Miller Dawson of Potomac, was not injured and remained on the scene.
