Maintenance Work Completed On Baltimore Metro Subway System

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Metro Subway has resumed full operations after partially closing last month for maintenance work.

The subway system was closed for more than three weeks between the Milford Mill and Mondawmin stations so workers could take care of what the Maryland Transit Administration called "critical maintenance work."

The Baltimore Sun reports that Paul Comfort, the MTA administrator and CEO, says the work was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

Comfort didn't provide details on the final cost. Repairs had been expected to cost $16 million.

During the shutdown, shuttle buses were provided to transport riders between the closed stations.
