Loyola Women's Lacrosse Team Headed To National Championship
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Loyola University's women's lacrosse team is on the road to the national championship.
Their first round NCAA Championship game is Saturday, and Andrea Fujii explains they hope you help cheer them on.
With a win against Notre Dame, the Loyola women's lacrosse team is headed to the NCAA championships.
It's the first time since 2004 they have made it to the championship, and it will be their first game at home: Saturday afternoon against UMass.
"Once you get to this point in the season everyone's here to fight, everyone's here to move on and I think that's one thing this team, they're going to fight to the very last second," said Jen Adams, lacrosse coach.
Players credit their success to the team's friendships.
"I think we have chemistry on and off the field that drove us to this point," said Cara Filippelli, lacrosse player.
"We have great depth coming from the freshman and the senior class, like we have a lot of really great players in all classes," said Marlee Paton.
They hope all 6,000 seats will be filled in their practically brand new Ridley Athletic Complex.
This will be their first postseason NCAA home event at this complex. Players say the more fans the better.
"I think it really helps us build momentum in games. If we're down they're always supporting us, getting us going, getting our energy up," said Paton.
Ranked sixth, the Greyhounds still need all the energy they can muster to ensure this is not their last game.
