Lockdown Lifted For Harford Co. Schools Near Scene Of Attempted Burglary
EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- A lockdown that was put in place for several Harford County schools because of an attempted burglary in the area has been lifted.
It happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 200-block of Oak Street in Edgewood.
Officials say a resident was leaving his house when he noticed a thin, black man in his 20s trying to get into his house in an apparent attempted burglary.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office says the suspect kicked the homeowner in the knee and fled on foot.
Deerfield Elementary School, Edgewood Middle School and Edgewood High School were temporarily placed on lockdown. Students participating in outdoor gym classes were asked to go inside.
That lockdown has now been listed.
The suspect has not been apprehended.
The victim was treated at the scene.
