49ers Score First After Lights Return At Superdome
NEW ORLEANS (WJZ) -- An unexpected delay to the Super Bowl, but the game is back on!
The San Francisco 49ers scored a touchdown less than 10 minutes after power was restored at the Superdome.
The lights went out at the stadium moments after the start of the second half. The delay stretched about 34 minutes.
The outage happened almost immediately after Jacoby Jones ran back a 108-yard kick return for a touchdown, putting the Ravens ahead of the 49ers 28-6.
Half of the lights in the Superdome were on, but it took more than a half hour to get the rest on. Fans were asked to stay in their seats during the delays.
The NFL has not released a statement about what happened in the stadium, but there are reports that an outside feed had problems, leading to the outage. During the delays, players stretched on the field, while fans anxiously awaited the outcome of Super Bowl XLVII.
