'Last Ride' To New Orleans: The Ravens Ready For Super Bowl Sendoff
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- City Hall is lit up in purple, as the Ravens get ready to head to New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII.
Derek Valcourt has more on the fan excitement.
The Ravens leave Monday, and Baltimore plans to send them off in style at a special event at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater.
Crews spent the day prepping the Inner Harbor for Monday's rally--a chance for Baltimore to say goodbye to the team as they leave for the Super Bowl.
At the MAC in Timonium, Rick is riding his stationary bike 1,100 miles--the distance to New Orleans. The money he's raising will benefit Ray Lewis' Charitable Foundation.
"It's his last ride. I figured I'd ride along for the journey, man," Rick said.
In Dundalk, fans packed Jimmy's Seafood to meet some of the players like Ray Rice and defensive lineman Arthur Jones.
"You guys are the best fans in the NFL, seriously," Jones said.
Fans are confident in a victory.
"It couldn't be a better moment: Super Bowl-bound, Harbaugh versus Harbaugh. It's going to be awesome," a fan said.
The players say all this love goes a long way. They'll take it with them to the Superdome.
"There's no better feeling. When we're getting ready to leave Monday we get to come out with our fans, enjoy this a little bit, but next week we got to get back to work," Rice said.
"'Oh my god, you guys are so amazing. You guys are a blessing. You guys are going to do it! You're going to win it!'" said Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo. "Everybody's so confident so it's great to see it's bringing everybody's spirits up and it's bringing the city close together."
"Ravens fans are always great and we got to take it all the way to New Orleans and keep that momentum going," said fullback Vonta Leach.
"We are ready for the Super Bowl. Bring on New Orleans, baby!" a fan said.
