Kolbe's NHL Playoff Recap 5-21-2013
It was a big time showdown in Hockeytown last night as the Red Wings hosted the Blackhawks in a series tied at 1. The Red Wings grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period and never looked back, getting a 3-1 win. Detroit received a stellar performance from goalie Jimmy Howard who made 39 saves on 40 shots. The Blackhawks got a goal from super-star Patrick Kane but could not overcome a strong performance from the Wings. Game 4 of this series will take place in Hockeytown Thursday night at 8pm.
On Tap for Tonight:
Tonight will see 4 teams continue their quest for the Stanley Cup. The Boston Bruins and New York Rangers will square off as the series shifts to downtown New York. Henrik Lundqvist will need to improve on his performances from games 1 and 2 where he was very unlike the King Henrik we've come to know all too well in this area. For the Bruins they just need to continue to enforce their will on the Rangers and crowd Lundqvist in the crease, he can't stop what he doesn't see.
Also tonight the Kings and Sharks get back on the ice at the Shark Tank in San Jose. The Sharks took game 3 in overtime after the Kings took some bad penalties and put themselves behind the eight ball. Antti Niemi finally started to look like the Vezina Trophy finalist we saw during the regular season. The Sharks look to get even, and the Kings are trying to get a stranglehold on the series tonight at 10pm.
