Killer Of Ex-Girlfriend Gets Life Sentence In Md.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A West Virginia man has been sentenced in Hagerstown to life in prison for murdering his former girlfriend.
Randy McPeak, 44, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was sentenced Tuesday. A prosecutor says McPeak must serve at least 15 years before he'll be eligible for parole.
McPeak pleaded guilty in November to first-degree murder for the fatal shooting last June of Heather Harris at her Hagerstown home.
She died five days after the former utilities construction supervisor shot her in the head. He held police at bay for seven
hours as she lay mortally wounded inside the house.
McPeak also was sentenced to a total of 30 years for false imprisonment and a handgun violation. Those sentences will run concurrent to the life sentence.
