Ken Weinman: BCS Simply "BS"
I have been saying for years that when it comes to deciding a national champion in college football, the BCS should just drop the C. The whole system sucks. I would have no problem with Alabama playing LSU for the title, if there was a playoff and they earned it. In the NFL there are Wild Card teams that have gotten in to the dance and won it all. The Packers did it last season and we all remember the Ravens run to the Super Bowl in 2000.
In Divison one college football though, there is no playoff. If you don't win your conference, in my opinion you shouldn't be eligible to win the championship. Alabama didn't even play for its conference title and its playing for the national championship. That doesn't wash for me. One thing we know is certain, the University of Maryland is still not relevant in this discussion.
