Ken Weinman: A Punch To The Gut
The worst loss in franchise history. Period.
That's what yesterday's 23-20 Baltimore Ravens loss to the New England Patriots was. The Ravens won the turnover battle, time of possession, and Joe Flacco outplayed Tom Brady. How did they lose?
Maybe there were some missed opportunities early but they got past them. The Ravens had the Super Bowl on Lee Evans hands and he didn't secure the football. It looked like he relaxed a little bit and that allowed the Patriots defensive back to knock it out of his hands. Up 27-23 with 22 seconds left equals game over. No worries Billy Cundiff can just kick a chip shot 32 yard field goal to send it to overtime. He pushed it left. Raven lose. Patriots go to Super Bowl.
This one will sting for awhile.
