Ken Weinman: 92 Yards
We've seen this movie before haven't we? The Ravens outplay the Steelers early but aren't fully able to take advantage of opportunities.
Torrey Smith gets called for holding on the first play. Negating a 76 yard touchdown run from Ray Rice. Joe Flacco leads the Ravens down the field anyway and they have first and goal at the one, but they have to settle for a Field Goal. Billy Cundiff misses a 40 yard Field Goal in the first half. In the 2nd half Terrell Suggs had a huge interception when it looked like Pittsburgh was going in for a score. The Ravens score to go up 16-6 then the script began to look familiar to Ravens fans. Ravens let Big Ben convert 3rd and 17 which leads to TD. Joe Flacco has another fumble giving the Steelers great field position which leads to a Roethlisberger TD to Mike Wallace and at that point I figured I was going to have to explain another coulda, shoulda, woulda Ravens loss.
Then something changed. A Pittsburgh drive that looked like it was headed for a FG ended in a punt. So Joe Flacco had 92 yards to get another monkey off his back. Then Torrey Smith drops what looks like a TD, Anquan Boldin drops a pass and I'm thinking "oh well"...
I give Joe Flacco a ton of credit. The guy made big throw after big throw culminating in a TD pass to Torrey Smith with 8 seconds to go. Ravens sweep Steelers and have a stranglehold on AFC North (apologies to Bengals of course).
