Keenan Reynolds Granted Permission To Play In The NFL
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Earlier today, May 13, the Baltimore Ravens received the news from Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus that Keenan Reynolds has been given permission to play full-time in the NFL this season.
Usually, The Navy, like the Army and the Air Force, requires their graduates to serve in the military after graduation, but certain accommodations or exceptions can be made depending on a midshipman's career.
Reynolds set an NCAA record for career touchdowns at Navy, but was also praised for his character off the field, which is something Secretary Mabus wants Reynolds to share with the NFL. "I can't think of a better ambassador for the United States Navy or for the United States military than Keenan Reynolds," said Mabus.
Another instance of extended permission to play was granted to the New England Patriots' long snapper Joe Cardona, which may be a good indication that Reynolds will be able to play with the Ravens beyond the 2016 season.
Details of what Reynolds will specifically do in the Reserves is unknown at this time.
