'Just have to bounce back': Ravens look to put ugly loss behind them, turn page to Patriots

BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Ravens are looking to get a bad taste out of the mouths.

The Ravens led for 59 minutes and 40 seconds of last week's game before a fierce rally by the Miami Dolphins, scoring with less than 20 seconds remaining.

Head coach John Harbaugh says that 42-38 loss is behind them.

Now, the Ravens aim to spoil the New England Patriots home opener at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

"You look all around the league and you have challenges," Harbaugh said. "You have to keep coaching guys through the course of a long season, and things turn, especially when you have good young players who you like and trust. They are going to learn from their mistakes."

Fans were a little nervous when quarterback Lamar Jackson showed up on Wednesday's injury report with a sore right elbow.

He had a compression sleeve on his arm in practice.

But both Jackson and Harbaugh say the quarterback -- who passed for 318 yards and rushed for 119 yards with four touchdowns last week - will play on Sunday.

"It was just a normal course of the season type of thing," Harbaugh said. "He'll be playing on Sunday."

The Ravens (1-1) are favored by three points in Foxboro.

The last time the teams played, New England won 23-17 in November, 2020.

After two games, Baltimore's defense ranks 32nd overall -- eighth against the run and 32nd against the pass.

"We have 15 more games left in the regular season. We are not going to let this define us," Jackson said. "We are going to move on and get ready for the Patriots."

New England's defense is fourth overall, going  up against a Ravens' offense that racked up 473 yards and scored 38 points against the Dolphins. 

"It's tough but we just have to bounce back, go back to the drawing board, see what we did wrong and just get better," Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman said. "We are just focusing on the Patriots."

While safety Marcus Williams has a team-best three interceptions, the offseason signing said he would much rather be undefeated.

"I just try to come out here and do my job and do my best to help the team win," Williams said. "I'm not really focused on my individual goals. I'm just focused on getting us those wins week in and week out, and that's what I came here to do."

The Ravens haven't said if running back JK Dobbins will make his season debut after he tore his ACL in the preseason in 2021. Devin Duvernay (concussion), Marlon Humphrey (groin), James Proche (groin) and Ronnie Stanley (ankle) were added to the injury list.

Look for New England to send pressure at Jackson via linebacker Matt Judon, a former Raven, who already has two sacks this season.
