Fourth Of July Fireworks Displays Return To Maryland: Complete List
As Covid-19 restrictions ease in Maryland with more people getting vaccinated, it feels like everyone wants to celebrate both the nation's Independence Day and freedom from the pandemic that gripped the country for the past year and a half. As such, several communities and organizations have planned fireworks displays.
Maryland's Office of Tourism has a list of events.

Fireworks:
Aberdeen IronBirds: The Aberdeen IronBirds will host its annual Independence Day fireworks show at 9 p.m. Sunday, July 4 at Ripken Stadium. Tickets are $5.
Annapolis: The City of Annapolis will launch its fireworks from a barge in the harbor at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, July 4. The best viewing areas include public spaces northeast of the Severn River, along the Naval Academy Bridge, City Dock, any of the street-end parks facing Spa Creek and aboard the Watermark Cruise ship in the harbor. The Spa Creek Bridge will be closed to traffic from Eastport into Annapolis at 6 p.m. and remain closed until the conclusion of the fireworks at about 10 p.m. City officials advise the closer you get to downtown, the harder it will be to park and leave once the fireworks conclude.
Baltimore: The Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts canceled its July 4 fireworks display earlier this year due to the pandemic and before statewide restrictions were lifted.
Bel Air: The Bel Air Independence Day Committee Inc. will host its fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4 at Rockfield Park at East Churchville and South Shamrock roads. Spectators can watch from any permitted area in town but are asked to observe the no-entry zones. If the fireworks are canceled, they will not be rescheduled.
Boonsboro: On Friday, July 2, Shafer Park in Boonsboro will host a fireworks display as part of its Boonsboro Independence Day Celebration at 9 p.m. Attendees are asked to maintain social distancing inside the park and take advantage of other viewing locations that also offer safe social distancing opportunities. The park is located at 37 Park Drive, Boonsboro.
Bowie: The Bowie Baysox will host fireworks following the game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Saturday, June 26 at Prince George's Stadium, 4101 Crain Highway. The evening is also the Baysox's Margaritaville Night, and attendees don't have to be Jimmy Buffett fans but are encouraged to wear their best beach attire. The game starts at 6:35.
Bowie: The City of Bowie will launch fireworks as part of its Independence Day celebration about 9:15 p.m. Friday, July 2 at Prince George's Stadium, 4101 Crain Highway. The event is free and will be preceded by a free concert from the Fabulous Hubcaps at 7:30 p.m. City officials said the fireworks will be visible beyond the stadium.
Catonsville: The Catonsville July 4th Committee will host a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3 as the conclusion of a day full of events, including a parade. The fireworks will be at the Catonsville High School Athletic Fields on Valley Road. The rain date will be at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4.
Chateau Bu-De Vineyard & Winery: The Chateau Bu-De Vineyard & Winery, 3822 MD-213 in Chesapeake City, will host its annual fireworks display from 8:45 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Tickets are $10, and attendance is limited to each person who has a printed ticket. Tickets may not be scalped or resold. Attendees are welcome to bring folding chairs and blankets but not their own food and drinks. Winery officials will confiscate any food and coolers. Food and drinks will be sold on-site.
Columbia: The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will hold a 22-minute fireworks show about 9:20 p.m. Sunday, July 4 at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront at Lake Kittamaqundi. Attendees may place blankets for seating after 3 p.m. Bands and food trucks will not be present, as had in years past. Free public parking is available at the Mall in Columbia and by the Columbia Lakefront adjacent to Whole Foods.
Crisfield: The American Legion Post 16 in Crisfield will hold its fireworks display as part of the Stars and Stripes Festival at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Somers Cove Marina. Attendees are asked to watch from their boats or vehicles and maintain social distancing, as these measures were set in place before restrictions were lifted.
Cumberland: The City of Cumberland will launch fireworks from the Constitution Park about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4 in Constitution Park on Fort Avenue. The park will close at 4 p.m. Fireworks can be viewed from locations around the city. Anyone with questions may email Diane Johnson in the department.
Dundalk: The Dundalk Heritage Fair Association will host its July 4 fireworks Monday, July 5 at 9:15 p.m. at Grange Elementary, 2000 Church Road.
Easton: The Avalon Foundation will host fireworks in Easton Sunday, July 4 behind the Target, 28539 Marlboro Ave. The foundation suggests viewing the fireworks at the field at Marlboro and St. Michael's roads. Although the show starts about 9:30 p.m., attendees are asked to arrive no later than 8:30 p.m. Anyone with questions may call 410-822-7299.
Frederick: Celebrate Frederick will host its fireworks display Sunday, July 4 at the Great Frederick Fair. 797 E Patrick St. The gates to lots A to E, with the exception of B, will open at 7. Lot B will not be available for parking because it is in the fire line of the display. The infield lot, accessed by Gate 3, will be an overflow lot and open at 8:15 p.m. if needed. Parking lot attendants will direct traffic in and out of each lot. Alcohol and outdoor grills are not allowed, and public restrooms are not available. Attendees are asked to take their trash with them when they exit.
Glen Burnie: The Glen Burnie Improvement Association will set off its fireworks at 9 p.m. July 3 at Sawmill Creek Park. GBIA will set off shells that will go up to 100 feet or higher so people can see them. With the state emergency order expiring, the association decided to open Sawmill Creek Park and Third Avenue Park as viewing areas, but the fireworks are larger this year than previous years so they can be seen from longer distances. As a result, the safety zone around the display has been expanded and the viewing area at Sawmill Creek Park will be smaller than in previous years. Parking will be at Monsignor Slade Catholic School, 120 Dorsey Road. Once the lot is full, it will be closed, and there is no overflow parking. Vehicles with handicapped tags may park at either Sawmill Creek Park, 301 Dorsey Road or the Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road. People may drop family members off at the senior center and park their cars at the school. Pets, alcohol, smoking and bringing fireworks into the park are prohibited. Food will be available for purchase. The rain date is Monday, July 5.
Hagerstown: The Hagerstown Department of Recreation and Parks will host its fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4 at the Fairgrounds Park, 351 N. Cleveland Ave. The department had announced before Covid-19 restrictions were lifted that food and drink vendors and supplementary entertainment will not be part of this year's event. It also encourages attendees to view the fireworks from locations near the park. Anyone with questions may call 301-739-8577, ext 169.
Havre de Grace: The HdG Independence Commission will launch its fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4 at Concord Point Park, 352 Commerce St. The display follows a free concert from the Maryland Military Band at 7:30 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
Kent Narrows: Queen Anne's County will conclude its Kent Island Fireworks and Family Fun Celebration with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Sunday July 4 at the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center, 425 Piney Narrows Road. Food and drinks will be sold, and attendees may take coolers as well. Free parking will be available at 5:30 p.m. at 58 Piney Narrrows Road, and handicapped-accessible parking and free shuttles will be available.
LaPlata: The Charles County Fair Board will conclude its July 4 Celebration with fireworks July 4 at the Charles County Fair, 8440 Fairground Road. Although the website didn't say what time the fireworks start, the events run from 3 to 10 p.m. Anyone with questions may call 301-932-1234.
McHenry: You don't have to be a Deadhead to view the Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display, sponsored by the Garrett Chamber of Commerce, at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at Wisp Mountain Park. The chamber recommends the following locations to view the display: the scenic overlook along Route 219, the Wisp Resort, the lawn at Garrett College, businesses in McHenry, or boats on Deep Creek Lake, especially McHenry Cove. The rain date is Monday, July 5.
Ocean City: Ocean City will host two fireworks displays simultaneously at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4: downtown on the beach at North Division Street and uptown at Northside Park. Anyone with questions may call 1-800-626-2326 or the Ocean City Department of Recreation & Parks at 410-250-0125.
Rock Hall: The Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company will host the Rock Hall Fireworks Show at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, July 3 over the Rock Hall Harbor. The fire company is asking for donations from attendees to continue the event in the future.
St. Michael's: The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will launch its fireworks display after dusk Saturday July 3 at its campus, 213 N. Talbot St. Attendees may arrive as early as 5 p.m. and can take their own food and drinks. Outside food vendors and live music will not be part of this year's event, due to Covid-19 protocols set in place before statewide restrictions were lifted. The museum asks people to keep nonservice dogs at home. Anyone with questions may call 410-745-2916.
Towson: The Towson Communities Alliance Fireworks Committee canceled its July 4 fireworks display earlier this year due to the pandemic and before statewide restrictions were lifted.
Washington, D.C.: The nation's capital is set to welcome visitors with its fireworks display on the National Mall on July 4, following the annual Capitol Fourth concert. Prime viewing spots include the mall, across the Potomac River, aboard one of several family cruises, at several rooftop bars and restaurants, along the Mount Vernon Trail, the Supreme Court Plaza, Hains Point in East Potomac Park, the Washington National Cathedral, Cardozo High School, Lady Bird Johnson Park, the Wharf or the U.S. Air Force Memorial.
Williamsport: Concluding the 4th in the Park celebration, fireworks will follow at dusk at the Williamsport Community Band's Patriotic Concert at 6 p.m. Friday, July 2 at Byron Memorial Park, 11 Park Road. The rain date is July 3. People can also view the fireworks at several locations throughout town.
