Judge Delays Trials In 2009 Metro Crash Cases
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A judge has delayed the start of two trials resulting from the 2009 crash on Metro's red line.
Both wrongful death cases had been scheduled to go to trial in March. Judge Reggie B. Walton on Tuesday delayed one trial until the end of October and the other until the end of November.
Metro and several other companies involved in lawsuits resulting from the crash have settled with families of seven of the nine people killed.
The two remaining wrongful death cases involve LaVonda King, a mother of two, and Ana Fernandez, a mother of six. A trial in the Fernandez case is now set for Oct. 29. A trial in the King case is set for Nov. 27. The cases could still settle before trial.
