Joe Flacco And Matt Ryan Face Off In Contracts
Former Heisman Trophy Winner and Sirus XM Radio host Gino Torretta joined The Vinny and Rob Show Friday morning on 105-7 THE FAN. Rob Long and Torretta hit on Flacco versus Ryan, Johnny Football, and Ohio State football.

Yesterday Atlanta Falcon's quarterback, Matt Ryan got paid and rightfully so. In 2008, Ryan took an Atlanta team that went 4-12 the previous season to the playoffs and won Offensive Rookie of Year. Ryan has taken the Falcons to the playoffs every year except 2009. Because of his solid play over the next five years Ryan is guaranteed 59 million dollars in his new contract. In comparison, Flacco has 52 million dollars guaranteed in the same span. But who is better? Gino Torretta had one thing to say about that, "There is only one stat that matters in football. The team that scores one more point than the other team. Who puts on the ring and who gets the trophy at the end of year and that was Baltimore and Flacco. I don't see flaws in him..." Flacco is 9-4 in the playoffs all time. Matt Ryan on the other hand is 1-4 and also had a performance where his offense was shutout against the New York Giants. So does he really have ice veins to warrant the nickname Matty Ice? The stats say otherwise.
Another QB who is making headlines lately is Texas A&M star, Johnny Manziel. However, Manziel has not been handling his fame very well. To quiet his critics he really needs to go out and play well this fall. Manziel needs a duplication of his performance from last year but it could difficult as he lost his starting Left Tackle in Luke Joeckel. Torretta believes that Manziel will be just fine but does not think they have a chance at a National Championship game. The SEC might just be too powerful and with the return of Ohio State in to bowl eligibility they could play the spoiler for a team like A&M.
Ohio State has been in hot water for player conduct this summer. OSU running back Carlos Hyde has had conflicting reports on whether or not his was involved in an assault of a woman in a Columbus Night Club. These issues could be a distraction for the team as they move forward in to preseason.
