Jockey With Ties To Md. Hopes To Win It Big At Preakness
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A jockey with ties to Maryland will get back to her roots next week at the running of the 138th Preakness Stakes.
Rosie Napravnik, 25, took to Twitter Saturday to express her excitement about the upcoming race, saying:
"Get your PREAK ON baby, I'm coming home! I promise you there is no other jockey who wants to win the #Preakness more than me! MYLUTE"
Napravnik, a native of New Jersey, launched her riding career at Pimlico in 2005.
She won several riding titles in Maryland, leading all jockeys in victories in 2006 and 2008.
More recently, Napravnik rode her horse, Mylute, to a solid fifth place finish behind Orb in the Kentucky Derby.
That horse is, of course, co-owned by Baltimore businessman, Stuart Janney.
Win or lose, Napravnik will race her way into the history books, becoming the third woman to ever have a Preakness mount.
The Preakness takes place next Saturday, May 18.
