Jobs For Innovative Professionals Are On The Rise In Baltimore
Business in Baltimore is booming once again and summer is a season bustling with new career opportunities. In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), total non-farm payroll employment in the Baltimore area increased by 4,000 in May 2014. Some of the latest employment numbers issued by BLS illustrate that jobs in the business and professional services sector were up to almost 222,000 jobs in that same month.
To this effect, it is no wonder that Governor O'Malley's InvestMaryland Challenge program attracts grant applications for novel products and services by some of the most innovative scene-changers in town. The grant, issued each May, is an excellent way for new or established entrepreneurs to propel business operations to the next level in the marketplace.
Maryland-based recipients of this year's InvestMaryland grant include ClickMedix, a mobile health care company bringing medical services to patients at the touch of a screen, and Brain Sentry, an organization that designs special bicycle helmets with the ability to detect concussions in wearers. In total, InvestMaryland sponsors disseminated nearly one million dollars in awards to businesses this year.
