Jeremy Conn: American League Predictions
AL East - I know it hasn't started out the way some O's fans would like, but for the first time ever, I'm picking the O's to win the division. I think the pitching will be good enough over the course of the season to get the job done. The Rays have lost 3/5's of their rotation but i still think they manage to make the playoffs. As much as I hate admitting it, I have the Red Sox as the other Wild Card. I really like the Yankees starting pitching, but I'm concerned with the entire infield. I believe the Blue Jays are still a year or 2 away.
AL Central - There is no question that the Tigers are the cream of the crop in this division. They have the best pitching and the best hitter on the planet. I believe the Royals take a big step forward and finish second in the division just missing out on the playoffs. The Indians and White Sox will be competitive, but I don't believe they have enough pitching talent to put them over the top. Minnesota might be the worst team in baseball.
AL West - The Oakland Athletics will win this division yet again. Great young arms and timely hitting seems to get it done every year. Sonny Gray will be a CY Young candidate by the end of the year. Texas and Anaheim( I refuse to call them LA), are lacking in the pitching department. I believe Texas will push for a playoff spot, but in the end they both miss out. I like the Mariners more than some, but they are a year or two away. I don't need to speak about the Astros, they are stockpiling young talent.
