Jeannine Edwards On The 141st Preakness, Nyquist's Chances & Barbaro
Jeannine Edwards from ESPN joined Ed and Steve to talk about tomorrow's 141st Preakness Stakes.
The weather won't be the only thing running wild this weekend.
Jeannine Edwards says Exaggerator is the biggest challenge for Nyquist, who is primed to win it all.
Edwards said, "The thing I like about Exaggerator is that he runs his race every time. It's obvious he has talent. He is a nice horse and he's a horse that gives his all every time he runs and the post positions are going to play a huge part in this race. If Nyquist gets trapped down on the inside breaking from Post 3, with so much speed to the outside of him, that could set up a clear run for Exaggerator. It's going to be a very tactical race."
Davis and Edwards took a moment to revisit the memories of Barbaro and the tragic race on the ten-year anniversary. Edwards said, "I was here for that and I did cover Barbaro's story extensively, [ESPN] invested a lot in his story, which was tremendous. It was because of the way he touched people. I remember being here and watching that race and when I saw the shape his hind ankle was in my eyes filled with tears and I immediately felt sick to my stomach, because when I saw that I knew it was a fatal injury."
Edwards said there will be a piece on ESPN on Saturday morning honoring Barbaro's story.
