Jason Catania Talks 2016 AL East

Jason Catania with MLB.com joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to give us the latest MLB news as Opening Day approaches.

Scott Garceau brought up the pro's and con's of the Orioles Spring Training so far in which, "The Orioles are scoring anywhere in between eight and twelve runs a game now and they're giving up anywhere between six to ten runs a game." So he asked Jason,"Is that what we're in for this year in Camden Yards?" Jason agreed, "Yeah, I think that's probably going to be similar to what it looks like most of the season. They've had a couple five homerun games which is a good sign but I don't think they will be preventing too many runs at least on the pitching side. Obviously the defense is pretty darn good especially in the infield so their pitching should be aided that way but I would imagine a good number of high scoring games in Camden Yards and wherever the Orioles will be playing."

To Boston, Jeremy asked Jason for his opinion of the Red Sox starting rotation outside of David Price. Jason broke it down, "I think Price needs to be what he's been the past five or six years as one of the top ten pitchers in the sport. You might say that Clay Buchholz could be the key to that team pitching wise just because it seems like every other year he pitches like a borderline ace and then the other alternate year he's battling blister problems or there is something going on with his arm and he looks like he doesn't even belong on a Major League mound necessarily. Eduardo Rodriguez I like him a lot as well but he's certainly prone to injuries and I think there is a lot of up and down with what could happen in that rotation because there aren't necessarily the sure things. But I think that's how it is in pitching in the entire AL East outside of maybe the Rays."
