Jah Reid Still Questionable, But Ravens Relatively Healthy Heading To Kansas City

By Samuel Njoku

After 10 days of rest, the Baltimore Ravens will travel to Kansas City to battle the Chiefs. The extra rest has paid off for Baltimore as their injury report is as thin as ever. The Chiefs however, appear to be a little banged up as they prepare for the Week Five showdown. Here’s a rundown of who may be a bit nicked up heading into this game.

Jah Reid, OT, (leg): Questionable

It would have been ideal for Jah Reid to be ready for the Chiefs game after having extra time to rest. But it appears as though Reid isn’t quite ready for action. Jah Reid saw limited action in practice for the second week in a row and is listed as questionable once again. The Ravens appear to be extremely cautious with the young offensive lineman for fear that a setback could occur if Reid is rushed back to action. The linemen for the Ravens are playing so well right now, they have yet to feel Reid’s absence this season. Baltimore would rather have Reid contributing on gameday, but will not jeopardize his health to do so. Don’t expect Reid to play in this one.

Torrey Smith, WR, (ankle): Probable

Torrey Smith has dealt with an ankle injury since the preseason, but appeared to re-aggravate it a bit on Thursday against the Browns. The injury doesn’t appear to be too serious, as the 2nd year wide receiver fully participated in practice the entire week. Torrey didn’t seem to worry about the injury on Friday either.

“I’m standing up on two feet I’m alright,” said Smith on Friday.

Torrey moved well in practice and shouldn’t be hampered at all by the injury. Ankle injuries can be tricky to recover from however, so expect the staff to watch him closely throughout the game on Sunday.

Ravens relatively healthy

Joe Flacco and Ed Reed suffered injuries to their ankle and hamstring respectively last Thursday against the Browns. But after both participated fully in practice this week, it was clear that the extra rest paid dividends. Neither player appeared on the injury report for Sunday’s game. Expect both Flacco and Reed to play.

Peyton Hillis and Glen Dorsey will not play

Hillis (ankle) and Dorsey (calf) have been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Ravens. Hillis, who has had relative success against Baltimore during his time with the Browns, was held out of practice all week. He looked to have injured his ankle against the Saints a couple of weeks ago.

Glen Dorsey could have helped in the containing of Ray Rice. But he will miss his second straight game with a calf injury.

Chiefs banged up

WR Devon Wylie (hamstring) has also been ruled out of Sunday’s game. CB Jalil Brown (hamstring) showed up on the injury report as doubtful. LB Derrick Johnson (groin), S Kendrick Lewis (shoulder), and DE Ropati Pitoitua (elbow) all appear to be game-time decisions. WR Jon Baldwin (hamstring), CB Brandon Flowers (heel), and G Ryan Lilja (back) are listed as probable and are expected to play.
