Investigators Seek Cause Of 2-Alarm Elkton Fire
ELKTON, Md. (AP) -- State fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a two-alarm fire at an Elkton business.
It took more than 60 firefighters an hour and a half to contain the blaze at Colonial Metals on Sunday morning. The state fire marshal's office says from the fire at the company that sells precious metal-based chemical products was contained to the shipping and receiving area of the business.
One firefighter was treated for heat-related injuries and released. The Cecil County Hazardous Materials Team determined the fire did not breach any container and declared the surrounding homes were safe.
Investigators say no evidence has been found to indicate the fire was arson. Officials say damage could be in the millions of dollars, but no definite estimate is available yet.
