Intruder Who Raped And Beat North Baltimore Woman Still On The Loose
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A warning in North Baltimore after an intruder raped and beat a woman while her children were just steps away.
Mike Hellgren spoke to the victim's father.
The intruder is still on the loose and police need your help to find him.
The frightening attack unfolded in the 3700 block of Greenmount Avenue just before 4 a.m. Thursday.
The victim's father says a man broke through his daughter's window, then raped her while her two young children were in the next room. WJZ concealed him at his request and to protect the victim's identity.
"She woke up with his hand on her mouth," the victim's father said. "He then tied her up and blindfolded her, and told her that he would kill her if she screamed."
"He informed her that he had looked at her identification, and if she informed police of what happened, he would come back and kill her and her children," the victim's father continued. "Those girls were just mentally tormented all day by the fact that somebody intruded their home. They understood that someone did come into the house and hurt their mother."
He says his daughter is terrified and he's worried there could be other victims.
"The Waverly area should be aware that there's a monster out here and women and children are at risk," the victim's father said.
Police declined to speak about the case, but confirm the details. And say they are actively searching for the attacker.
The victim's dad says there is DNA evidence and hopes that will help detectives catch the man behind this violence.
"Nobody's family and no individual should have to go through this type of mental anguish," he said.
The victim has undergone counseling. Her children are scared to go home. She was treated at a hospital. If you know anything about this case, you are asked to call police. You can remain anonymous.
