Inner Harbor Gets Ravens Ready For NFL Kickoff Events
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—The excitement is brewing, and Baltimore is getting Ravens ready for the team's season opener, fresh off their Super Bowl win.
Christie Ileto has more on the countdown to Thursday's big game.
The Ravens' 12th man is suiting up with purple pride Tuesday.
Gwen Lynch already has on purple.
"Absolutely, and it's not even Friday," she said.
Excitement swirls for Thursday's season opener against the Broncos in Denver!
"I probably own three-quarters of every shirt that is in here," said Kristy Giordano.
While Ravens gear flies off the shelves at Ravens Zone, Mother's in downtown Baltimore paints a football field on its famous purple patio.
"The fans are pumped. It's time to celebrate," said Dave Rather, Mother's.
And our waterfront changes shape.
"The harbor is transforming as we stand here, from cars to Ravens," said Laurie Schwartz, Waterfront Partnership president.
Event organizers have speakers, lights and stages being assembled for Ravens activities and a kickoff concert with Keith Urban!
Even some downtown restaurants are offering game day deals on meals for fans.
"It's thrilling to have the concert here at the harbor in Baltimore, to have the NFL kickoff here," Schwartz said.
The last time the Ravens battled it out with the Broncos they overcame a seven point deficit in the last 60 seconds and went on to win that playoff game.
Ravens nation is hoping for a repeat.
"I know how Denver feels about it. They feel like we took something from them, so it's the first game of the year, but it already feels like a playoff," said Kenny Yates, manager of Ravens Zone.
While the game won't be here, our city is Ravens ready to cheer the birds to another victory over Denver.
"After last year, how can I not have faith in the Ravens? They can beat anybody," Yates said.
Events start Wednesday at McKeldin Square. The Ravens' official season begins Thursday against the Broncos.
