Injury Report: Ravens Look Healthy For Game Vs Texans, Torrey Smith Not Listed
By Danny Cox
The Baltimore Ravens are heading into a game with the Houston Texans that will be a huge factor in their playoff lives. Sitting with a record of 9-5, the Ravens currently hold the sixth and final playoff spot on the AFC side of things, but that doesn't mean they will keep it. Six other teams are hot on their heels, but luck would shine on Baltimore as they are looking quite healthy and ready to play.
Perhaps the biggest news isn't who is on this week's injury report, but a name that is missing entirely. Wide receiver Torrey Smith has been dealing with a right knee injury, but it obviously isn't serious enough to have place him on the injury report at all.
That just shows that Smith didn't even need to see a trainer this week to look at his injury. That's very good news.
As of now, there are no players listed as out or doubtful. Just one is listed as questionable, and that is defensive lineman Chris Canty with his ankle issue. He actually didn't practice at all this week, and it is looking more and more like he'll be a game-time decision for the Ravens.
Canty has really stepped things up in the past two weeks for suspended defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Brandon Williams will start in the middle of the 3-4 Ravens' defense while Timmy Jernigan will be on one side. If Canty can't go, expect Lawrence Guy, Casey Walker, or DeAngelo Tyson to step up.
Five players are listed as probable for non-injury related reasons - linebackers Daryl Smith and Terrell Suggs, safety Will Hill, o-lineman Kelechi Osemele, tight end Owen Daniels - but they'll be ready to go. These listings are usually for what teams now call "Veteran's Day" or a day of rest.
Wide receiver Jacoby Jones didn't practice on Wednesday due to an illness. He showed no more signs of it though, as he was back on the field for Thursday and Friday. Running back Bernard Pierce was limited on Wednesday with back issues, but he was a full-go the rest of the week.
Starting right cornerback Anthony Levine was also limited a couple of days this week with an ankle injury, but he was able to ramp things up on Friday.
The Ravens look healthy and ready to take on the Texans. A win isn't a must, but it would help them considerably. Actually, with a win and some help from other teams, they can even clinch a playoff spot this week so there is a lot on the line.
