Hundreds Of Fish Found Dead In National Mall Pond
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The National Park Service says about 1,000 fish have been found dead in a National Mall pond.
The park service will tests algae levels in the water at the Constitution Gardens pond on Thursday.
Officials say it could take several days to determine the cause of the fish kill, but the incident is not unusual for that pond. The park service says it has long stressed the importance of redesigning the pond in West Potomac Park to maintain a better ecological balance.
The pond is at the top of the list for construction upgrades.
