Howard County Man Is Md.'s 1st Heat Death In 2013
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Public health officials say the state's first heat-related death for 2013 has been confirmed.
The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said Wednesday that the victim was a Howard County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who had underlying health conditions.
Last year, there were 46 confirmed heat-related deaths from May through September in Maryland.
DHMH Deputy Secretary Dr. Laura Herrera urged residents to be vigilant over the Independence day weekend because high temperatures are expected.
