Howard Co. Police Investigating Bomb Threat Hoax At PNC Bank
HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—Police in Howard County are continuing their investigation after a bomb threat hoax shut down roads near a local bank on Thursday night.
The bomb squad was called to the PNC Bank located along Old Frederick Road to investigate a suspicious briefcase.
Police say during the incident a man walked into the bank with a briefcase and spoke to an employee and then opened the briefcase which appeared to contain a suspicious device.
Further investigation revealed that the device was not dangerous.
According to authorities, the man claims he was picked up by an unknown subject in Baltimore who gave him the briefcase and forced him to take it into the bank. The man says the alleged suspect then dropped him off at the bank and drove off with the man's car.
