BALTIMORE -- A man is dead after he was shot in the face at a bus stop in Southwest Baltimore on Saturday, according to authorities.

Officers learned around 3 p.m. that a man had been shot in the Edmondson Village area, police said.

Someone flagged them down while they were on patrol near the intersection of Edmondson Avenue and Wildwood Parkway.

The person who flagged down the officers directed their attention to a bus stop in the 4000 block of Edmondson Avenue, according to authorities.

Stephanie, who lives near the site of the shooting, said she was shocked by the daytime gunfire.

"I just think it's crazy because you don't know if that person was going to work or going to see family," she said. "You don't know what they were going to do. So, it's like what was your reason, you know?"

Another neighborhood resident, Nikki, noted that people are drawn to that particular corner because the community church behind the bus stop gives out free clothes and free food.

"All of that stuff was out there when this happened," she said.

Nikki said she rides the buses and is at that bus stop every day. She said the brazen act of violence has shattered her sense of security.

"We would have absolutely been caught up in that," she said.

Nikkii said she was frightened while Stephanie said she won't go outside of her home alone.

Anyone with information about the deadly shooting should contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.

Anonymous tipsters can call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
