Hitting The Hardwood: Week 1 In The NBA
TK & The Woodman take a look back at Week 1 in the NBA and discuss the Wizards 2-1 start, milestones reached for future Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and LeBron James, as well as league headlines.
Here are some of the topics discussed in the weekly 30 minute podcast:
Kobe Bryant starts his 20th NBA season and sets a record by playing his entire career with only one NBA franchise. Lebron James becomes the youngest NBA player to reach 25,000 points, and Tim Duncan picks up his 954th win with the Spurs.
Golden State, Steph Curry and the defending NBA champions are off to a quick 4-0 start, while the Lakers and Kobe Bryant look hopeless starting the season 0-4. The Woodman speculates on the season ahead for Kobe Bryant and whether he can once again be an impact player.
The Wizards were able to survive at the buzzer in Orlando, rally behind a big 4th quarter in Milwaukee, before losing their home opener against Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks. Bradley Beal and John Wall made their expected impact for the Wizards with both players being atop the league leaders in scoring.
TK worries about the Wizards new up-tempo offense and the increase in turnovers that has occurred as a result.
Billy Donovan now runs the show in Oklahoma City, and Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook are both off to hot starts in a rugged Western Conference.
And as always, The Woodman obsesses over Kristaps Porzingis.
As they do each week, TK & The Woodman will take thirty minutes to discuss the Wizards, NBA headlines, stats, teams trending up/down, rookies who are/aren't making an impact, and major stories surrounding the NBA.
