Helping Women & Children Of Domestic Violence... By Shopping
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Ladies, if you love to shop, listen up! This week there's a way you can cash in on some sales while helping out women in need.
Monique Griego has more on Style at the Station.
Sisters Lynn Fram and Mindi Leikin are finishing up the final details as their store Bare Necessities gets ready for Style at the Station.
"It's a way to get out and go shopping, whether it's a trunk show, giveaways or special discounts," Leikin said.
Thursday night, all the stores at the Greens Spring Station Shopping Center on Falls Road will host various events for a girls night out.
This year, women will not only save a lot of money because of all the sales but they'll also get the chance to help out a good cause.
"We are here tomorrow evening accepting donations of women's clothing etc.," Terri Wurmser of the House of Ruth said.
House of Ruth is an organization dedicated to helping women and children of domestic violence.
"They come with nothing. They come clothes on their back and their children or dragging a garbage bag with some clothes," Wurmser said.
Stores are asking people to bring in any gently worn clothing or accessories.
"We need everything from children's clothes to women's clothes, large sizes," Wurmser said.
Donations will go to women in need and to Ruth's Closet-- a retail store that benefits the organization.
"There's always one great item in everybody's wardrobe that they can donate and help raise money," Leikin said.
Fram and Leikin both feel mixing fundraising and fashion is always a win-win.
"Here, you can have the opportunity to make someone else feel as good as you do all the time," Fram said.
Style at the Station is Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. House of Ruth is also running a raffle for a vintage Chanel purse.
