Hearing Set On Slots In Frederick County
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- State lawmakers from Frederick County are asking citizens to speak out about the possibility of slot machines coming to their area.
The county's delegation to the General Assembly is holding a public hearing on the topic Wednesday night in Frederick.
In the last legislative session, two Democratic delegates from Howard and Prince George's county introduced a bill to put a slots parlor in Frederick County to lure gamblers away from a casino in Charles Town, W.Va.
The bill died in committee but Frederick County Republican Delegate Michael Hough says it probably will be reintroduced in 2012.
Hough opposed last year's bill. He says it's important for Frederick County citizens to voice their opinion on the issue.
