Harford County: NWS Suspects Tornado Touched Down
JARRETTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Harford County officials say the National Weather Service believes a tornado is to blame for damage in Jarrettsville over the weekend.
The county says National Weather Service representatives made the assessment after a visit to the area on Saturday.
Officials say the weather service will make a formal declaration of the tornado touchdown on Monday, most likely in the afternoon, after a review of storm data.
A home on the 2100-block of Cox Road in Jarrettsville sustained minor damage and at least two trees on the property were destroyed during a Friday night storm that brought heavy winds and rain.
The fast-moving storm along the Interstate 83 corridor prompted a tornado warning.
No serious injuries were reported.
