Harford County Deputy Hit By Suspected Drunk Driver

EDGEWOOD, Md (WJZ) -- A Harford County Sheriff's deputy is recovering after his cruiser was hit by a suspected drunk driver.

It happened Wednesday about 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Roads 40 and 152 in Joppa

Police say Kevin Johnstone, 21, lost control of his car while trying to make a right hand turn, hit the median, and went airborne.

He hit the driver's side of Deputy Brad Sives' patrol car, who was rushed to Shock Trauma.

He has since been released from the hospital.

Johnstone has been charged with driving under the influence and other offenses.
