Hagerstown Woman Guilty In Drowning Death Of Son
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Hagerstown woman is avoiding jail time after striking a plea deal in the drowning death of her 7-month-old son.
Taria King, 27, pleaded guilty Thursday to reckless endangerment in the death last March of Ronald Oliver Jr.
She was placed on three years of unsupervised probation. A 2 1/2-year prison sentence was suspended.
Washington County prosecutors dropped charges of manslaughter and neglect of a minor.
King allegedly told police she left the boy and his toddler brother unattended in a bathtub while she slept. She told police she was awakened by the older child and found Ronald facedown in the water.
Investigators say there was about four inches of water in the tub.
