Hagerstown Woman Dies From Hit-And-Run Collision
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A family member says a Hagerstown woman has died 11 days after she was hurt in a collision with a hit-and-run tractor-trailer.
Kimberly Yumlu's son-in-law tells The Herald-Mail newspaper that the 45-year-old teaching assistant died Wednesday at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va. He says Yumlu had been kept alive so surgeons could harvest her organs for transplants.
She was injured the evening of Nov. 12 on northbound Interstate 81 near Martinsburg, W.Va.
West Virginia State Police say Yumlu's husband Christopher was driving their SUV when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer, struck a guardrail and rolled over.
Police say the tractor-trailer left the scene. They don't have a description of it.
