Hagerstown Police Captain Will Be New Chief

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Hagerstown city officials say they've found their new police chief -- and they didn't have to look very far.

Capt. Mark Holtzman is a 12-year veteran of the Hagerstown Police Department. He'll be sworn in Tuesday as chief.

Mayor David Gysberts said Thursday that Holtzman is a trusted and experienced officer committed to public safety.

Holtzman has spent his entire career in Hagerstown. He succeeds Arthur Smith, who retired in September.
