Man Arrested After Stabbing, Standoff
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Hagerstown police say a 38-year-old man stabbed a teenager inside his home and surrendered after a 2 1/2-hour standoff with police.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that Jenerette Dixon has been charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment and a weapons offense.
Police were called to the home shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday. The Herald-Mail reports that neighbors saw a female running from the house with a knife in her chest. Police chief Mark Holtzman says the victim was hospitalized with "very serious injuries."
Police surrounded the home, and a SWAT team was called to the scene. At 6:35 p.m., a man wearing a red shirt walked out of the house with his hands up and was arrested. Holtzman calls it "a good example of a successful negotiation."
