Hagerstown Gets Grant For New Parking Deck Lights
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A government grant will help pay to replace metal halide lights in a Hagerstown parking deck with light-emmitting diodes.
The $69,000 grant from U.S. Department of Energy will fund the replacements of 92 lights in the Arts & Entertainment parking deck.
The Maryland Energy Center picked Hagerstown to get the grant.
City Public Works Manager Eric Deike hopes to have the project completed by early June.
Replacing the old lights should reduce the city's electric use and save more than $15,000 in annual energy costs.
