Hagerstown City Administrator Retiring
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Hagerstown City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman says he's retiring after nearly 20 years on the job.
The Herald-Mail reports that Zimmerman announced his retirement Tuesday, effective in June 2015.
The 58-year-old manager was hired in 1994. He directs the city's day-to-day operations.
Zimmerman says he gave the city plenty of notice to allow time for the mayor and city council to find a successor. He says he's considering other opportunities for public service.
Mayor David Gysberts says Zimmerman is known for steady, strong and financially responsible leadership.
