Gun Rights Group Contests Restrictions In Md. Town
WALKERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A gun rights group is contesting firearms restrictions in a Frederick County town.
The Second Amendment Foundation has called on Walkersville to repeal a ban on shooting and carrying loaded guns in town.
There are some exemptions, including for people with state handgun permits or for law enforcement officials and those practicing at gun ranges or teaching firearms safety classes.
The Frederick News-Post reports that the group, based in Washington state, sent the town a letter last month and warned that it might sue if the town code weren't changed.
Despite the notice, the town commissioners voted against making any changes at a Wednesday night meeting.
