Grant Money Available For Bay Education
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia is looking to give away the nearly $308,000 it collected last year on the sale of a special Chesapeake Bay license plate.
The Chesapeake Bay Restoration Advisory Committee is accepting grant applications to conduct bay-related education and restoration activities. Applications are being accepted from private, not-for-profit conservation groups, schools and universities, and governmental agencies.
Since 1996, nearly $6 million has been awarded as a result of the sale of the "Friend of the Chesapeake" license plate.
