O'Malley Asks Prince George's Dems To Withdraw Alston Replacement
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's governor is asking Prince George's County lawmakers to withdraw the name of a replacement for Delegate Tiffany Alston.
The governor is asking lawmakers to wait until the attorney general rules on whether the seat is vacant.
Gov. Martin O'Malley made the request in a letter sent Friday to the county's Democratic Central Committee.
The committee selected businessman Greg Hall to replace Alston after she was convicted of misconduct in office. However, Alston's attorneys say now that the conviction has been modified to probation before judgment she is eligible to be reinstated to the seat.
