Gov. O'Malley Appoints 2 To Public Service Commission
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley has appointed two people to the Maryland Public Service Commission.
Kevin Hughes has served as the governor's deputy legislative officer since 2007. He has worked on energy policy for the administration. Before joining O'Malley's administration, he was an analyst for the Maryland Department of Legislative Services.
O'Malley also appointed Kelly Speakes-Backman to the commission. She most recently worked as the Clean Energy Director at the Maryland Energy Administration. She also has worked in the private sector for 20 years.
The PSC, which had two vacancies on the five-member commission, regulates gas, electric, telephone, water and sewage disposal companies.
